Allow Your Inner Child a Place in Your Life

Allow Your Inner Child a Place in Your Life

Those of us stepping into our spirituality have heard of our inner child. In some instances, we understand what it is but when we realize who they are, that’s where the magic starts.

The Lesson from Kyle Cease

As I listened to Kyle Cease’s latest video on YouTube, “I Can’t Function around Other People”, I realized who my inner child is. Now I know I see her show up often. When Archna, Kyle’s client, began explaining her childhood of not being seen, it connected with mine. I existed as someone who did her chores, behaved, and wasn’t seen as a person. Like Cease mentions, the way our parents laid this blanket of who we were in their world, isn’t true but how we lived thinking it was the truth.

Acknowledgement is Therapeutic

Once I acknowledged that my inner child wasn’t seen and I could help her out, it was so therapeutic. My true self was always hidden and only seen by certain people I trusted like my best friend and others from early childhood. Because we have always held that space for each other, we allowed our true inner child to come out and play.

Fear Not

When I became more of an adult in my 20’s, my awareness of others wanting to keep my inner child quiet was seen. It was also the time where I saw its connection to control. Since others were too afraid to let any part of their inner child out, they used my timid sense to hold it over my head. Those feeling the same anxiety for fear of intimidation and ridicule simply hid from others’ reactions. As we lived the way others wanted us to live, we helped them survive from their demons. In addition, we happily stepped into that character for them.

Allow Your Inner Child

As I watched Archna realize her own self worth and how it’s okay to let her inner Archna come out of the darkness, it was a wonderful release within me. Being able to be your true self is probably the happiest part of life. Realizing that those around, ready to stomp on your inner child, have the same feelings is eye opening. The practice of allowing her to come out helps me see the inner child of those around me. At this point, the best thing to do for others is welcome them. By them seeing there is no need to hide any further, they become their best selves.

Understanding is Kindness

Now that I allow myself and others to bring out their inner child, I use my mercy and understanding of those who may have repeatedly hurt or attacked me. I can see why they may have had to close up their feelings and even hide from me altogether. Their fear of what others would say about their inner child exists and has them hide and shy away. They hide from those that know the existence of the inner child. Since they are afraid of taking that step, they stay in the shadows of darkness.

Your Inner Child Can Help Change the World

The best gift to our self is to unleash the inner child in us. The best gift to others and the world is to see the same happening within them and allowing their magical self to come out by offering a simple smile of knowing. Once we connect this idea and feeling with those around us, they begin to mirror us. This is what is meant by changing the world. By practicing simple kindnesses like allowing others to be their true self, we actually trigger this phenomenon in the world.
