Buckle Up! New Year & New Me

At my age, I do not use the New Year Resolution the same as others. For me, it is a new beginning in which I can do better.

In order to accomplish this, I view the resolution as a tool and not as something to fear. I look back on my past year and think about what I enjoyed and what I no longer want. This can be anything from feelings, fears, emotions, reactions, and my past points of view. It’s time to bloom into a new you!

A New Look at Resolutions

Yes, we all want to be healthier and lose weight, but in my nearly six decades of spinning around the sun, I know none of that is going to happen until I look deep in myself.

Questions to Ask Yourself

I start by asking myself questions: When I was upset this year, what was going on to provoke it? What was I eating and drinking this year when I was feeling good and when I was sick? How did I exercise and what other ways can I move and have fun this coming year? Did I go after or start any ideas or dreams that I thought of last year? How did those go? What can I do better to help me stay successful?

Sharing What I’ve Learned Last Year

Because I learned that what I think and feel has an impact on what I eat and drink, I have started really focusing on what goes into my body since last May. By going into the doctor and getting my blood work done, it showed me where to begin. Since last spring, I have been letting plant-based powders for smoothies and soups as well as different foods become my staples. By looking at the numbers of every food item with special attention to cholesterol and carbs, I have lost weight and have not needed to take ibuprophen as much. When my numbers came in, I looked up what supplements/herbs I could take to help my body return to a healthier me.

Fill Your Soul

It doesn’t hurt to have two friends who are very knowledgeable with herbs and with advice on my mindset. By connecting with them often, I not only get great advice, but I definitely get a chance to use many smiling and laughing muscles. Having someone to bounce important topics off of someone you trust is everything.

So, as you hit the gym and get back into a new healthy schedule and rhythm, be sure to ask yourself these same questions. Turn your resolution into your own reSOULution and adjust your life in order to remain a bit longer here.
